Year 10 Geography Fieldwork
|
|
On Thursday 23rd May, Year 10 Geography students visited Lyme Regis to conduct fieldwork for their physical investigation. Students produced their own primary data through field sketches, sediment sampling, and beach profiling to assess the extent to which Lyme Regis is affected by coastal processes. The weather was perfect for the trip - both classes came back with plenty of data which will prepare them for their Paper 3 exam at the end of Year 11. Most importantly, everyone enjoyed themselves.

Moken Delivers Another Knockout Performance!
|
|
For the second year running, Moken M returned victorious from Portugal with the Portimão Box Cup, with a string of similar, impressive successes on home soil too!
In recent weeks, Moken has progressed through the National Schoolboy Championships, with wins in the Quarter Finals in London and the Semi-finals in Newcastle.
Despite a very strong performance in the final, he came away with Silver, losing to the reigning two-time champion.
His efforts have not gone unnoticed, and Moken has been selected to represent England for the first time in the upcoming Tri-nations Competition in Nottingham.
Well done, Moken, on all your hard work in the ring.
Wadham School is behind you all the way!

On Friday the 5th July, Wadham School hosted the annual Design and Technology Tournament for the Rotarians of Crewkerne. The event was well attended by local schools with students from Key Stage 4. Working on a brief, the students had to design, make and test a pulley system. Wadham School entered 7 teams out of 21 that attended, from Year 7 up to Year 10. Our Year 7s were treated to a visit from Mark Carter from the NHS who explored how their favourite lessons in school could link to the vast array of jobs within the NHS. Awards Celebration Evening
|
|
This year our annual Awards Evening was hosted at Wadham School on Wednesday 10th July with a wonderfully warm evening celebrating our students' progress and achievement. This was a real opportunity to celebrate and showcase student performances and give our thanks and farewell to a longstanding member of our school Governors.
Our guests were greeted with afternoon tea and cake, which provided a tasty and veritable feast whilst fundraising for the Camp Kenya Expedition. The background to this was a sunny early evening of musical entertainment and the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the festivities.
We were delighted to have in attendance our special guests, Mayor Brian Hamilton and Mayoress Carol Hamilton , along with Counsellor Alice Samuel and our Wadham Alumni guest speaker, Dr Justin Turner KC, who left us in 1981 and came back to delight us with stories of Wadham of the old and inspire our students with his uplifting and inciteful stories of studying at the Royal Veterinary College, being on the board at UCL and becoming a Judge. We look forward to hearing more from Justin in the future.
The evening was rounded off with special thanks and a plaque from The Diocese of Bath and Wells for Governor Stuart Shepherd, who has retired following 27 years of dedicated service to Wadham School. Our thanks and gratitude to Stuart for all he has done for our school. He will be missed!
Our final award of the evening was a Staff Award, which is a new award for 2024, and we were proud to recognise Louisa Ridgley as our awardee. She was awarded by her colleagues for her unfailing ‘can do’ attitude and being a constant force in the Science Department.
Many congratulations on a thoroughly deserved award, Louisa!
