House Cross Country Event
|
|
Wadham hosted its first ever house cross-country at the start of term. Over 170 students entered the event, which was a beautiful cross-country cross route through Bincombe Woods and around our school playing fields. Students were rewarded with house points for taking part, alongside their certificates, and the first three boys and girls in each Year group have gone down in history as the first ever record holders for their times, which will be the standard to beat next year.
Well done to everyone who participated in this event!
Watch this space for future house sports events…..
Overall winners

A Level Biology Field Trip
|
|
As the teacher overseeing the A Level Biology students' field trip, I am pleased to report that our diligent students have successfully completed a required practical investigation into the distribution and abundance of species along the intertidal zone of Ladram Bay's shoreline.
Throughout the course of this fieldwork, our students demonstrated exceptional commitment to scientific enquiry, working meticulously to gather accurate data despite the challenges posed by the natural environment. Their efforts in cataloguing various species and noting their distribution patterns have not only contributed to their academic growth but also to our understanding of this unique ecosystem.
The practical skills and hands-on experience gained during this trip are invaluable, and the students' ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios is commendable. As their teacher, I am immensely proud of their hard work and the professionalism they have shown. This field trip has been a testament to their dedication to the subject of biology, and I am confident that the insights they have gained will be beneficial in their future scientific endeavours.
We look forward to further analysing the data collected and drawing meaningful conclusions that will enhance our biological studies. The success of this field trip is a direct reflection of the students' enthusiasm for learning and their unwavering pursuit of academic excellence.

A great week of fixtures with over 50 pupils representing the school during the week commencing 13th May
It was brilliant to take two Year 9 Rounders teams to play Holyrood.
We had four Cricket teams taking part in tournaments - with both our U12 boys and our U15 girls finishing as runners-up!
Next, we had our Year 7s achieve an awesome win in Basketball over Stanchester and our Year 10s beat Huish Episcopi in Rounders!
Go Team Wadham!

Visit to Wadham From The Green Party
|
|
We recently had a successful visit from Green Party Councillor Tim Eggins and Candidate Serena Wootton.
Students across a range of year groups challenged candidates on a range of issues such as education, the NHS, nuclear weapons and housing.
Well done for the direct and probing questions, and a big thank you to Tim and Serena for their time in visiting our school.

The Bank of Dreams and Nightmares - Science Fiction Workshops
|
|
Every Thursday this term, a group of our fantastic Year 9s have been taking part in an exciting collaboration between English and Science. Students have watched and taken part in live experiments, had talks by physicists and asked questions of professionals working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
They have done this to begin crafting their own story based upon a scientific concept which students have been writing and redrafting. Once students finish these stories, they will be sharing them with local primary school students to inspire and interest them in Science and English. These stories will then be published in a book which students will receive.
This exciting project means that our students are getting to apply high-level scientific skills alongside imaginative and creative writing. We are incredibly pleased with how enthusiastically our students have engaged with this project and look forward to building upon their success.

Ten Tors is an extremely challenging event for 2,400 teenagers who navigate routes of 35,45 or 55 miles in groups of six in under two days. The event is coordinated every year by the Army with support from volunteers and civilian emergency services. This year's event was particularly tough as the temperatures rose over the weekend. The teams out on Dartmoor had no shelter and there were many cases of heat exhaustion. Below are photos of our Wadham students who completed the challenge this year.
Well done to Year 9 boys Alfred, Daniel and Vince, who completed their 35 miles, and Year 12 student Lara, who completed the 55 mile route.
We congratulate you all.
